Janitors in Houston, Texas are considering going on strike because they cannot express their freedom of speech. Houston has ordinances on public gatherings, public speech, and parades. They are planning to hold big demonstrations, rallies, and other public activities.
I think that the city should let them have these parades if they want to. They are providing services to government buildings and should be able to express their freedom of speech.

A new cycling strategy for Reading has been created which aims to encourage more people to take up cycling by making it easier to get around town by bike.The Reading Borough Council is encouraging people to take some time to look at the new Cycling Strategy and come forward with their views. The new strategy includes possible new cycle routes as well as other measures to encourage cycling such as promotion, education and training.
I think this is a good idea. People will be able to travel easier on a bike and won't have to use a car all the time. These routes will make biking more efficient. It will also help the environment by lessoning fuel usage.

This article is about a town trying to get past the turmoil because of the indictment of top police officers. The case keeps generating new turmoil. It is keeping the town from getting a fresh new start. It has been three years since this has occurred. This all started from the police chief abusing his power and other officers trying to protect him.
It seems every police department has corrupt officials. But this town is dealing with a couple all at the same time. The turmoil has split the town into two sides. This article can be related to what is going on right now in Womelsdorf. I don't understand why a police chief would abuse his power. This town just wants to move on to a fresh start and the townspeople just won't let that happen.

A popular night club in Telluride which is known for live music and high night life is facing trial. The owners of the Bubble Lounge, Troy Wilsey and Kelly Randazzo, were in municipal court for 5 separate noise citations. Majority of the complaints came from neighbors Bob Dempsey and Suzanne Dahl saying that for the past year they couldn't sleep because of the noise.
I think that the people who were calling police because of the noise need to get real. If you live beside a nightclub what do you expect? If they have such a problem with the noise there is a simple solution, move away.

This article is about a huge contraversy within the Penn-Delco school district. So far 8 school board members have resigned from their chair in only the past 14 months. Some of these members include the superintendent of the school and the board President, Keith Crego. Crego was apart of a public sex scandal with another board member. The parents of the students are looking to move on and focus more on their kids, rather than unethical adults.
I think this article is pretty ridiculous. These adults are getting involved in sex scandals and being charged with falsifying public records. Administrators know the rules and should be able to conduct themselves accordingly. I am hoping that the school elects all new members and makes a fresh start.

In gainesville they pasted a new ordinance that extends rights to transgender infiviuals. they disuccues this on monday night and the vote was interesting. this protects people from discrimination on being a transgender.
I think that it is good and bad. Good because then those people in that5 area can have freedom but bad cause then you can get in trouke form laughing and what if that person thinks you are laughing at them and you are not and you get in trouble for that when you didn't even do that so you need more proof or a witness.

A town in North Carolina is fighting back against air pollution, and the factories and industries that cause the problems. Jefferson, NC passed a zoning ordinance that replaces a 2005 ordinance that was rescinded because of a technicality. The ordinance states that all factories must keep noise, odor, and dust within the building, and specifically prohibits asphalt and concrete plants. Lumber, molding, and fixture plants are also included in the ordinance.
I think that it is admirable that this town is fighting back against large corporations in order to keep pollution down. They are sacrificing business prominence and lower taxes for the environment. That does not happen to often anymore and is very respectable.

Two Pa. officers involved in scuffle are reinstated, compensated
In Deptford Pa, two police officers had been suspended without pay since february 2006. They were charged with assaulting Joseph Rao, a South Philadelphia man pulled over for running a stop sign. In an enhanced version of the tape, Rao can be seen kicking at Gillespie and Parks, who then punches Rao twice and pulls him from the car. Legal Article
I think that this is not fair to the two police officers. If Rao was attacking them, I think that they have every right to protect themselves. Not to mension Rao was the one who committed the crime in the first place. I also think that is ridiculous that Rao is trying to sue the township for more than one million dollars.

I think this hilarious and good. In this article it said that a lawmaker in the fattest state in the nation, Mississippi says he wasn't trying to offend anybody by filing a bill that would ban restaurants from serving food to obese customers. He says he never even expected his plan to become law.
Personally I think that it is funny yet it is the right thing to do. Eventually this would be what would have to be done or obese people would have to be dropped off their health care, or something like that. people need to think healthier.

this ordinance is about allowing dogs who are not service animals are allowed to sit on the patios with their owners. the new ordinance is left up to the owner of the restaurant. alot of the owners dont want the dogs there because they dont want to deal with all of the sanitary issues and noises of the dog.
i think that its kind of cool that you can take your dog out to eat with you but it would make me nervous with other dogs around. it would make me feel just unstable.

In a small Indiana town a local county has filed a lawsuit against another in a move to stop the two counties from joining. People of Boone county do not want to become apart of Whitestown so they are suing to stay apart.
I think this is another stupid lawsuit that could have been avoided. If both counties could have gotten together and talked this out there would be no problems. Instead, they have to waste the time of our legal system over something stupid.

A New Hampshire town is pressing their town officials to pass an ordinance on where sex offenders can live. This outcry comes after
Douglas Simmons moved into an apartment near their local school. Simmons served 22 years in prison and five years on probation for killing and molesting a 6-year-old.
Simmons has since moved out of New Hampshire.

In Womelsdorf, Borough Solicitor Allen R. Shollenberger revealed the reasons Police Chief Steven W. Triboli was fired. Triboli's actions included: redesigning a police uniform patch, investigating the disappearance of a $10 bill, punching in to get his picture taken for a department calendar and moving the location of timecards. Triboli maintains he should have had a hearing before being fired.
Honestly, what the police chief did was ridiculous, and frankly I would probably fire him too. Regardless, it's only right to give the man a hearing, no matter how pointless it seems. But still, a police chief who goes after a $10 bill is bizarre.

This article is about a community trying to get ordinances against burning and also to get more toilet facilities for workers.
One woman complained that everything they burned gave off toxic fumes. She also complained the builders were going to the bathroom within sight of houses and neighbors.
I think this is a waste of the city councils time. It sounds like its just one lady who has a beef with her little town not being perfect. I would like to see one of the builders "accidentally" drop a board on her head or something else that would cause her harm for wasting everyone's time.

This article was about how the New York State attorney and the Manhattan Borough planned to sue three retail stores in the Manhattan for selling toy guns in violation of the New York state law. It has been a requirement that all toy guns must have a non-removeable orange stribe to distinguish them from real guns. The imitation gun law has been in affect for over a year now.
I think that it is good that the Manhattan Borough is cracking down on these types of violations because it could save lives, including those of police officers.
Some religous guy Richard Thompson is going to take township officials because he thinks they are harrasing him and other people that are trying to practice theri religon.
Police have taken photos of cars out front and taken down license plate numbers. They said is breaks the Religous Land Use ACt of 2000. Excessive sound was reprted by neighbors due to continuing construction. THere are as many as 30 cars parked outside the house in the morning and neighbors are upset.
Im siding with the neighbors, havent these guys and gals ever heard of something called a church. It is a disturbance for the neighbors around them. Thats what sunday mornings are for.
