Britney Spears has hired new lawyer, Stacy D. Phillips, to represent her in the ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline. This is her fourth lawyer to sign on for her custody battle, and she is hoping to win the chance to atleast see her children throughout each week at the minimum.
I think its good that she is taking the time to actually try and win custody over her children, because not a lot of parents do that after they lose the first time. On the other hand, she is very beat out of shape right now, and i think its best for her and her children if she finds herself before taking full control over someone elses life.

Chris Banas, a family law attorney tells how painful divorce can be for families, especially for the males clients because they think they got the bad end of the deal. Minnesota was only one of the handful of states that does not look at both parents incomes when determining child support payments. Tom Neuville changed that. He is the cheif author of the new law. Which took three years to pass. The new law now considers both parents incomes before determining child support. This law helps men out a little bit more, majority of women in Minnesota have custody of their children, men make up about 89% of the non-custodial parents. The new law is a way of saying that both parents are still responsible for supporting their children.
I think that this new law in Minnesota is more modernized because more and more women are the ones bringing in majority of the familes income. In my opinion, this law is an equalizer for men and women in a custody battle, which in the end determines what is best for the children.

This article was about the idea of changing the age of marriage for men from 21 to 18. People are arguing about the ages. Some think it should be basically whenever you want to get married and others think that both ages for men and women should be 18 becasue when you are 18 you are an adult.
I agree with the idea that it should be 18 for both men and women.

Two Australian children who had been kidnapped by their mother to Switzerland were found, institutionalized for a year, and then returned to Australia to be reunited with Russell Wood, their Australian father. However, the Australian Department of Community Development then got the assistance of a family-court judge to have the children ordered returned to their kidnapper in Switzerland.
This is just messed up. I feel so bad for those children. First they were kidnapped and then they have to go back to their mother who kidnapped them in the first place? Maybe their father is the crazy one... I don't know. It's a touchy subject.

Lexington County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested a 29-year-old West Columbia woman on charges that she left three young children, ages 2, 5 and 9, alone at home overnight between Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23 while the woman went on an alcohol drinking binge. Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said Kristina Hope Wright, 29, of West Columbia, was being held on Sunday, February 24 at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $30,000 on three counts of unlawful conduct towards a child by a legal custodian. Officers placed the children in emergency protective custody because they could not find a responsible adult to care for the children. The South Carolina Department of Social Services later took custody of the three children.
I can not believe a mother would ever be this irrasponsible with her children. Any thing could have happened while she was out having a good time. I am glad that the police found the children alone and caught her. I don't thing Wright has the right to keep her children, because I don't think they are safe with her.

This is a summary. Breaking up can be hard to do, but divorce can be downright painful. Divorce is emotional, custody battles are emotional. When mixing the facts with a case and you're talking about dollars and children, it becomes emotional. Minnesota has it's laws, too. It was one of only a handful of states that did not consider both parents' incomes when it came to determining child support payments. Many cases were applied in numbers. Even if divorced, parents are both still responsible for supporting their child.
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills seperated in 2006 and their divorce hearing just ended last week. A judge will make the final decision on how much money the gold digger Mills will get. McCartneys esitmated fortune is about 1.6 billion. He offered his ex-wife 50 million. She was to greedy to take it she wants double that.
Heather Mills is a joke and McCartney was a Beatle, enough said. SHES A GOLD DIGGGERRRRR
BUCHHHhhhhh

This article was about a man who threw his child off of a bridge. He had been arguing with his ex-wife about custody and visitation issues. He said that demons told him to throw his kid off the bridge. After he did it, he called his ex-wife and told her to get dressed because he had just killed their child. He was denied bail and will be spending the rest of his life in prison.
I think that this is an article that is a little out of the ordinary. It's horrible that someone would do this to their own child and claim that demons told him to do it.

This article says how many child support payments are not helping poor families. This is because alot of the payments go right to paying welfare costs rather than going to the mother and the children. Critics say this hurts the children rather than helping them.
This is just another fault in the American social system. I personally always thought child support payments went right to the mother and child but I guess I was wrong. I think that our government really needs to fix this issue or we're going to have too many poor mothers struggling to support their children.

This article is about the government in Alberta. They are trying to take drastic measures in preparing a new law that would allow to seize children from parents who are either addicted to drugs or involved in drug trade. This article focuses on the crystal meth drug. The opposition, who are feeding the kids the drugs are the only ones trying to appeal this court.
I think that children should be taken away from these homes. They have such a high risk of abusing these highly addictive drugs. At such a young age, this is such a dangerous thing because death is likely to occur.

This article is about Britney Spears and KEvin Federline filing for divorce. Britney Spears is asking for legal and physical custody of their two children Sean and Jayden. Spears did file to let Federline have visitation rights. Spears also wanted earnings and accumulations.
I think that Britney Spears is a wackoo! she doesn't deserve to be with her children!

The rapper 50 cent was furious when Shaniqua Tomkins, baby mama of his 10-year-old son, Marquis Jackson, kept asking him for more money, so he took Tomkins to court to let a judge decide how much he should pay in child support. Tomkins asked for $50,000 a month and was granted $25,000 a month while the court went through her and Marquis' expenses. A ruling was handed down earlier this week: Tomkins will now receive a paltry $6,700 a month in support from 50.
I think that this is just outrageous. Today people are marring people just for the money. It’s almost impossible for rich people to find someone that actually loves them and not their money. What’s this world coming to? Too many gold diggers!!!

600 couples end their marriages in Franklin and Fulton counties each year. Jusdges spend 35% of their time on family law, the next biggest mumber being criminal law. In order to speed up the process and make things easier, a Divorce Master is appointed. They only serve as a advisors, but try to please both parties out of court. They eventually still have to go, but its much quicker. 90% of the cases are resolved before they even enter court.
I think this is a smart idea. It saves time and makes the whole court process a lot easier. There should be 'masters' for other matters as well.

It's about 38 year old Leigh Robert who is getting married to another woman. She is a teacher in Sheboygan Area School District and she says she should be granted paid leave for her wedding like any other employee. After the district denied her request. She filed a grivance that was heard last week. The committee has 5 working days or until thursday to submit their decision.
I think that's wrong because they have no right to deny her pay because she is an employee and deserves the same rights as everyone else who works there. Who cares who she is marrying i bet if she marryed and animal there wouldnt be a problem.

This article is about a family trying to have pharmacy technicians to be certified. They are trying to get this law passed in Ohio because a non certified technician mixed to different medications together that killed their daughter. If passed it would require technicians to pass a national training exam.
I believe they should be certified because you would want someone to know what they are doing when you go to get medication.

This article is about a couple who have been going through a long divorce. The women didn't know that her husband was gay. The pair split three months after he came out on live television, saying he had a gay affair with an ex-staffer and that he would resign. On Friday, they were in court for the umpteenth round in their drawn-out divorce proceeding, this time to fight about whether Matos McGreevey has to cooperate the experts he hired to bolster his claim for shared custody.
I think that this is pretty weird (for her). After all if you are gay why would you get married to someone else.

Former beatles member, Paul McCartney has been going through a long and strenous divorce. He and his estranged wife Heather Mills, an ex-supermodel have been in the proceedings for nearly a year. McCartney is looking to settle and give between $50 and $100 million of his $1.6 billion Beatle's fortune to Mills, but she is looking for almost double. McCartney is arguing that most of his fortune came before the two were married and should rightfully be his. He also argues that they were actually together for such a short time that the divide of the fortune should not be equal. The other major issue is the couple's daugther. Mills does not want her 12 year old to be exposed to someone who does not protect his family.
I personally believe that even though Mills is not as famous as McCartney, she is still entitled to her share of the fortune. Afterall, if he didn't want to share it, why would he get married in first place?

THis article is about actress Anne Heche and her estranged husband Coley Laffoon fighting for custody of their children. Both have filed a suite hoping to gain custody of the kids.
Divorce not only hurts the parents involved but also the kids. The children are put through matters like this that they have no say in. They are forced to go through something they are not ready for.

In this news article a woman from Floridia killed her husband, right before their divorce was finalized.

this article was about how a couple was suffering from an adoption scam that took advantage of them. this couple was promised a child from Guatemala. they received a picture and everything. after months and months of waiting they finally realized that they have been tricked. now they have a set of twins that they have adopted. they just hope that this is not just another scam.
i think that it is awful that people would even think of pulling a scam such as this one. it makes you wonder how far people will go just to make a quick buck.
